The Gender Wage Gap

Introduction

Why can’t women win? The gender wage gap is an issue that needs to be part of the national conversation. Women in the U.S., on average make 80 cents per every dollar men make even though over the past several decades there has been a remarkable increase in the labor force participation rate of women and women have made great gains in educational attainment. In order to close the gender wage gap, the public needs to be aware of factors accounting for the gap, the root causes of the gap, and the path we need to take as a collective society in closing the gap.
